  • Writing fiction and nonfiction based on true stories, life stories and/or Western Canada’s past.

What the artist has done

  • I was writer-in-residence for Calgary Public Library (2003) and for the Alexandra Writers Centre Society (2000) 
  • I have taught continuing education writing workshops at Mount Royal in Calgary for almost 20 years and instructed for Women’s Words, U of A (2005, 2006).
  • My writing workshops have been featured for continuing education, conferences and writers groups throughout Alberta.  As well, I presented readings or workshops for about 100 libraries, schools and community groups.
  • Experience working with seniors: I have interviewed many seniors for my books on regional history. Too, my adult writing workshops for educational, community and history groups have always included seniors. Specific workshops for seniors were offered at Kerby Seniors’ Centre, Calgary 1999, 1997, 1996, 1994

Artist comments

  • Duration: Length is varied. For locations outside Calgary, half-day, full-day, or weekend workshops are best. Some may be scheduled once a week over three or four weeks, depending on location
  • No accommodations required in Edmonton. Preplanning up to 6 months helps ensure dates. Content/topic is determined by organizer/participant preferences. Not available outside Calgary from November - mid-April
