FEST & more takes off

What do Shirley Serviss, Councillor Andrew Knack and the Central Lions Seniors Swing Band have in common? They are all coming out – to the kickoff of FEST & more, Edmonton’s celebration of creativity as we get older.

It’s happening on Tuesday, June 3 at 2 p.m., at SAGE – the Seniors Association of Greater Edmonton, downtown near City Hall. It’s a free event; come for entertainment, refreshments and friends.

The performers include:

The Churchill Singers – a group from the Churchill Retirement Residence who sing their hearts out every week under the direction of Jackie Smith.

Shirley A. Serviss – beloved Edmonton writer, teacher, artist-on-the-wards at the U of A Hospital, and Global TV Woman of Vision. She is also a warm, vibrant reader of her work.

The Central Lions Seniors Swing Band – now in its 11th year, the swing band keeps toes tapping.

GeriActors & Friends – Edmonton’s only intergenerational theatre company. The members produce original plays based on stories and issues from their lives.

Councillor Knack and the Hon. Gene Zwozdesky (Speaker of the Legislative Assembly) will bring greetings. You’ll find out about the other events that are taking place during FEST … & more. It’s an event for all ages – bring your mom, your daughter, your granddad for an afternoon of creative encounters.
