Alberta Foundation for the Arts
 
The Alberta Foundation for the Arts (AFA) supports the arts in your community by acknowledging the power of creative activity to inspire minds, encourage expression, improve quality of life and contribute to the province’s economic prosperity. The AFA supports Alberta artists and art organizations by providing consulting support and grant application advice. The Alberta Foundation for the Arts provides grant opportunities such as:

Community Initiatives Program

The Community Initiatives Program provides funds to enhance and enrich community initiatives throughout Alberta. The program is intended to reinvest revenues generated from provincial lotteries in communities, to empower local citizens, and community organizations to work together and respond to local needs.
  • Project-Based Grants provide financial assistance for community organizations for such things as equipment purchases, facility construction or renovation projects hosting/travel/special events, new programs or special funding (ie disaster) requests within Alberta.

Community Spirit Program Donation Grant

The Community Spirit Program Donation Grant is based on total annual cash donations from  individual Albertans that have been received by an eligible organization over a 12- month period (with a maximum grant of $25,000) The grant can be used to support an organization’s operations, programs, and or/ capital projects.

Community Arts Program Offered by the Edmonton Arts Council, the Community Arts grant program invests in the quality of life in our city by providing funding for projects (could include short-term or permanent public art) that are described as collaborations between professional artists and a distinct community. (A community may be defined by a multitude of factors, including but not limited to, ethnicity, living conditions, geographic location, age, beliefs, traditions, social or economic strata).

New Horizons for Seniors: Community Participation and Leadership Funding

Grants of up to $25, 000 are available for projects that “harness the energy of seniors/elders to become directly involved in their community” and assist in the development and maintenance of a vibrant and healthy age friendly community.”
